Re: Summary of Environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programs
Oldcastle Architectural Products Group

Dear Mr. Cavanaugh;

Per our recent discussion, below is a summary of Oldcastle Architectural Products Group (APG) Environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs:
  • APG is present in 38 states, and Quebec and Ontario, Canada.
  • Corporate Structure: Each plant has a local Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator, supported regionally by one of eight (8) EHS Coordinators; and nationally by one (1) EHS Director.
  • Regional Coordinators and National Director meet annually, and follow a comprehensive EHS Manual.
  • Environmental assessments are conducted prior to every acquisition, and all identified issues are addressed.
  • All manufacturing locations are subject to a detailed EHS internal audit annually.
  • APG invested $5.2 million in plant environmental projects throughout the U.S. in 2006.
  • We manufacture products that are awarded points under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System®.
  • APG recycled 490,000 tons of concrete and clay brick, and 100,000 tons of flyash into its products in 2006.
  • Our group sponsored 28 "Open Days" at manufacturing locations in 2006 to foster community partnership.
  • Plants conduct annual training to each employee on environmental issues such as: storm water, spill prevention, silica, hazardous materials handling, and related EHS topics.
  • An APG company held a successful fundraising campaign in 2006 and donated over $13,000 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
